Skeptical Analysis of the Paranormal Society

The Pricing, the Format, the Information Request

SAPS continues with their quest for mediums

The information the mediums requested when we filled out the forms was pretty standard - our address, full name, and date of birth were requested from most of them. Since Alison is licensed as a Private Investigator, she was incredibly reluctant to give this information out. With a date of birth or address, a medium has the tools to run a background check should they so desire and discover the names of persons the subject has been "connected with" in the past. To safeguard against this, Alison altered her birth date by one day, assuming that since she remained the same star sign, it wouldn't make a difference should the medium happen to employ astrology. She also used a different e-mail address for the responses to keep them unconnected from her as a SAPS member.

The questions we asked were quite simple, though we are changing the name of the person involved. They were as follows:

We felt no further clarification was needed - ie: How old Robert is, Why we don't know where he is, When we stopped knowing where he was. If the person is truly a medium, we felt that this information would be obvious.

The next step was payment. The first reading, a Psychic Medium Mini Reading, was fifteen dollars for three questions and was received by Psychic Marie (Visit the "Meet the Mediums" section for more information).

The second was through http://the-psychic-detective.com, and was performed by Jeffry R. Palmer at $19.95 for as many questions as one could ask.

The third was interesting as it was performed by C.J. Sellers, a medium promoted by Dave Schrader of "Darkness on the Edge of Town" radio show - which featured an interview with Alison once. She had background on who we are to some extent. And the reading was, kindly, pro bono. Visit C.J. here: http://www.cjmedium.com/

The fourth reading, done by Gene of http://www.psychic-medium.com was $30 for two questions.

And finally, the big one - the fifth reading by (reading not received yet, source deleted) was $75 for an unlimited number of questions.

We filled out the forms, and discovered the legal jargon...
