Skeptical Analysis of the Paranormal Society

Ear Candling

SAPS Correspondent Peter Aarondark was recently challenged on his belief in the efficacy of Ear Candling. Ear Candling is considered a health treatment, wherein candles are placed in the ears and lighted to 'create a weak vacuum' and 'remove ear wax buildup'. Packages of candles can cost anywhere from $5 to $25.

Many medical doctors have spoken against the use of ear candles, as users have sustained injuries to their ears from the hot wax, and some have even experienced permanent hearing loss.

We know that ear candles are dangerous - but do they work? Like any good skeptic, Peter was willing to confront his belief and put it to the test. Watch and find out what happens when Peter risks his hearing for the skeptical cause.
