A Chair Moves on its OWN?!

One infamous paranormal clip involves a chair, left alone in a room, moving across the floor, seemingly on its own. The sides of the room are visible, and it's clear no one is manipulating the chair from either end of the room. However, the door to the room is open, and there's a hallway outside. The hallway is in darkness, and hard to see on this "paranormal" video. Begin the debunkation! (Which I believe isn't even a word.)

I purchased a travel chair, very similar to the one used in the episode, but of a different color to increase visibility - the one shown in the "paranormal" footage is blue, while mine is orange.<

Many believers have noted that fishing line could not have been used to move the chair since the chair moved in a straight path, from left to right in front of the camera, and no one was on the left or right. I, however, put my faith in the inability of the camera to get a clear picture at a distance in the dark (which the original paranormal investigation clip has difficulty with as well). In the "paranormal" clip, something moves across the light just before the motion of the chair begins. I illustrate this as well, using a crack in the window shade for outside light. While not the exact circumstances of the original footage, these were close enough to duplicate the findings fairly well.

Instead of using fishing line, I opted for a dark blue mop. The handle is so dark that it can't be seen in the footage.

Another interesting fact has to do with the base of the chairs (see picture below). Each of the legs of the chairs forms a "v", making it incredibly easy to slip something (like a mop handle) into the gap and use it to guide the chair.

Below are two videos. The first is my "paranormal" clip of a ghostly force moving the chair, unaltered. If you look really closely, you can just make out my arm. Next time long sleeves!

The second is exactly what I did all over again, all lights on, unaltered.

It is also interesting to note that at the beginning of the show for this paranormal clip, they emphasized the chairs. A lot. Almost as though they knew the chairs would play a key role in the "haunting".
