Who is Robert?

The story of a missing person

"Robert" is not our missing person's real name, nor is it the name we actually gave the mediums. The missing person's name is Duane. When we re-posted the readings, it was before all of the mediums had weighed in their opinions. Rather than give them potential ammunition for a hot read, we altered the name.

After this many medium readings, we feel safe in revealing the true nature of the missing person. His story can be found below. It is not a made-up story. It is reality. The reason that mediums can be so upsetting is that this is not a neat little trick. These are real people with real families. Those who contact mediums are desperate to hear about a loved one. Is what the mediums tell us true? We leave the judgment to you.

Where are you, Duane?

Duane Maney (Alison's uncle) was born on June 6, 1949 in a military hospital in Fort Meade, Maryland to parents Veda and Dwight. He was their first child. Veda and Dwight would later have two more sons and a daughter. They all lived in a house in Houston, Texas.

Duane began experiencing problems while enrolled at Rice University in 1969. He was eventually diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, but struggled on anyway. He did a brief stint in the Navy, worked for a while as a taxi driver, and eventually returned to his parent's home.

He did not get along well with his parents as he was convinced they were planning to kill him. Veda and Dwight rented him an apartment and paid for the rent, keeping money in an account for Duane. There were frequent noise disturbance reports as Duane liked listening to his music loud.

Duane began to think that he was not schizophrenic, but that the Navy had given him drugs to make him crazy.

He would disappear for days at a time, but always called his parents when he wanted to return home.

His father, Dwight, passed away in 1987. Veda followed a year later.

Duane became the charge of his older brother, also named Dwight. Dwight paid out expenses from the account that their parents had left.

In 1990, Duane and Dwight got into an argument about money. Duane, enraged, yelled, "See you in hell!"

Since that day, no one in his family has heard from him.

Because of his previous disappearances, no missing persons report was ever filed. Duane has remained missing for fifteen years.

A background check reveals no known address for Duane W. Maney (though there is another person of the same name, it is not him.) He has no criminal conviction record. He is not an inmate in the state of Texas. He has never married or bought a house. He has never had a phone number.

Where is Duane?

SAPS was in an exceptional position to test the claims of mediums. This is a person who has been gone for a while - and there is no paper trail leading to him. There was no way for a medium to resort to a hot reading as no information was available on his whereabouts.

Looking at each reading - Duane had no close friends or lovers. It is unlikely that he could hold a job without anyone realizing his illness. Even if he did, there is no record of him living anywhere. Duane did not have and is not a pet. He never worked as a farmer. Duane is his real name.

SAPS is ready to take the next step in finding Duane. Already we have conducted investigations of our own into his background. We are ready to hire other private investigators to search further, and we are also enlisting the help of you, our readers, to find Duane.
