Day 17, January 5, 2007, Homeopathic Sulphur Taken as Directed

Woke up with a backache that grew worse throughout the day. Had planned on going to doctor today anyway. Went to the walk-in clinic and was told the wait was over two hours and they would call when an opening came up.

Back pain grew worse. Returned to doctor for visit. Was told that it might be pneumonia, a kidney infection, or an infection around the heart (all of which can manifest as back pain.)

The doctor drew blood and did a urinalysis. Guessed pain to rate a 7 on a 10 scale. Could not get comfortable. Cried at the doctor's office.

Doctor recommended EKG and x-ray. Could not afford either. Was told to go to Emergency Room if condition worsened.

Diagnosis without further testing: Acute Bronchitis.

Doctor's visit: $152

One hour later, went to Emergency Room. Pain an 8 on a 10 scale. Was rushed through (in a wheelchair) and given a pain shot. Drew multiple vials of blood, tested urine, and did chest x-rays.

Pain pretty much unbearable. Within five minutes, the shot kicked in. Felt better.

Was sent to ER waiting room to wait for an actual room to open up.

Saw the doctor, and was given blood test results. High white blood count indicative of infection.

Was p rescribed muscle relaxers, antibiotics, and cough medicine.

Went home and slept sixteen hours.

Day 18, January 6, 2007. Homeopathic Sulphur Not Taken

Picked up all prescriptions, totaling $114.86

Runny nose, wheezy lungs, fatigued. Pain less with medication. Neck pain.
